"Now SMC management is engaged in a great public relations ruse over the distribution of new equalization money. Instead of praising the governor and the legislature for raising funding, management whines that SMC is still poor because the latest equalization deal is supposedly unfair. All of this is to disguise the fact that SMC is flush with funds and that management wants all of it to go to the luxurious care and feeding of itself."

"We have a society now that's acceptable to lie. We have a society now that's acceptable to do dishonest things. We have a society that even says its okay to torture people."

-- Jim Keeshen [to his AET students]

"I define democracy as control by the people. Slaves are those who allow others to control their lives. Insofar as people succeed in solving their problems fairly and efficiently at a grassroots level, they retain control over their lives. Insofar as they delegate their problem solving to a higher authority, they lose control over their lives."
