Ray the Service Dog Checks Out the Cute Animals at the Petting Zoo
Ray the Service Dog enjoys all the cute and cuddly animals at the Petting Zoo at the Americana at Brand. Sadly, the Petting Zoo stopped coming down to the Americana sometime in 2013. It was really a great experience for Ray and all the local children for a mere $5.00 entry fee. There were even pony rides for $7.00.
Although we have the Los Angeles Zoo nearby, it just wasn’t the same experience. Hopefully, it will return someday in the near future or someone else will pick up the mantle. Animals that were featured at the petting zoo at various Saturdays included dogs, bunnies, sheep, goats, pot bellied pigs, chickens, llamas, and ponies, among other animals. Best of all, the kids could feed the animals some health snacks such as carrot sticks.
Since this was Ray’s first time around so many different animals since I adopted him from the farm he lived in up in Calabasas, California, I decided to muzzle him. Since then, he has never had to have a muzzle and has been terrific with all kinds of animals at home, at my friends’ homes, and at the Los Angeles Zoo.
